Playing Games

Today I finally had energy in the morning. I'm not sure what was different but it felt great. I headed over to school with Seth and the twins for Onuma-sensei's class. She spent the morning playing games and handing out enough papers to have consumed a small forest. Eventually class ended and she gave us homework once again.

At lunch I sat down with Ronnie and An. As I had already eaten during the break I just had a snack and worked on my homework. Onuma saw me working on it and complemented my hard work (I think). I didn't get to talk to An much at lunch as we had gotten out of class late.

After lunch we had Dr. Hayashibara's lecture on the history of Japanese aviation. Not many Japanese students showed up for this lecture, which isn't too surprising as Keiwa is a liberal arts school. The lecture was pretty good and gave a brief run-through of Japanese aviation. The central theme was the WWII era aircraft. At the end we watched a little bit of a documentary on the Shinkansen bullet train, which was designed post-war by former military aeronautical engineers.

Instead of conversation partners today we attended a demonstration of classical Japanese instruments. I apologize as I can't remember what any of them were called. The performances give were absolutely beautiful and it was a very enjoyable demonstration. At the end of the final performance they allowed us to try out the instruments. It was very interesting, but I prefer drums to stringed instruments.

I ran into An and Hitomi after class and hung out with them for a bit. An gave me a Niigata city restaurant guide which I found pretty interesting. Apparently Niigata has a Canadian restaurant. Eventually it was time for them to go to their last class and I told An I'd be back at 6 to meet her for something she had planned.

I walked home and relaxed for a while before going back to school to meet An. She had a hiragana learning game for us to play. She told me to invite everyone, which I did, but only one of the twins showed up. Needless to say I was angry and ashamed after she not only got this game for us to play, but several Japanese students showed up as well. I apologized and An just smiled and told me no apologies. We played the game anyway (it was a lot of fun, especially when Yuu started yelling "Hai!" every time she got one). Around 7 we ended the game as An needed to catch the bus to Sasaki station. Unfortunately she left in such a hurry that I wasn't able to get her e-mail or as her if she wanted to do something Sunday. Back at the apartments I told Yuu this and she agreed to get her e-mail for me tomorrow since I'd be gone all day on a field trip.

I hung out in Robbie's room with him, Austin, Megumu, and her friend until the girls had to go home. Then I headed over to Seth's room and hung out there, shooting the shit all night long. I finally got back to my place around 12:30 and called it a night.
